LED editor

Rev bars, flags, spotter, pit alerts — on real hardware, at a glance. Plug in a SimHub-ready LED device (or use a virtual bar), stack effects into a profile, and everything you change is pushed live in under a tenth of a second.

LEDs

SimLogix treats LEDs as what they are: peripheral hardware you read at a glance, not another screen overlay. You pick a wheel, stack a few effects, and race.

00

How it works

  • A profile is a stack of effects. Each effect owns a zone of your LEDs (a range you drag on the preview) and lights it when its condition is met — shift lights follow RPM, the spotter follows nearby cars, and so on.
  • Order is priority. The stack renders top-down like layers in an image editor: an active effect paints its zone over whatever is below; an inactive effect is transparent. Put alerts above the rev bar so they win when they fire.
  • Everything is live. Any change — a color, a zone handle, a reorder — is pushed to the preview and the hardware within ~80 ms. Save and Discard only decide what is kept on disk.
  • The preview never lies. The on-screen wheel shows exactly the frame the hardware receives, brightness included.
01

Supported hardware

The goal is simple: any LED device should work. SimLogix speaks the standard SimHub serial LED protocol — the same one virtually every “SimHub ready” wheel, dash, or LED bar already implements. No SimHub install required: SimLogix drives the device directly.

  • Auto-detection. On startup SimLogix scans your USB serial ports for known LED devices, performs the standard handshake, and asks the device how many LEDs it has. The device's own answer is what drives the editor — plug in, and your wheel appears with the right LED count.
  • Hot replug. Unplug and replug mid-session: the device reconnects on its own, even if the port number changed.
  • Clean exit. LEDs are turned off when SimLogix closes — no orange bar burning on your desk overnight.

Your device doesn't show up? For safety, SimLogix only talks to USB devices it recognizes (it will never spray test frames at random serial ports). Adding a new SimHub-ready device is usually a one-line change — report yours on Discord with its USB IDs and it can ship in the next update.
SimHub users: two programs can't hold the same serial port. If SimHub is running with LED control enabled for the same device, one of the two will show it as busy — disable the device on one side.

No hardware yet? Pick a virtual wheel and design your profile against the on-screen preview — it behaves exactly like the real thing, and your profiles carry over.

Quick start

From nothing to lit LEDs in about five minutes.

  1. Open the LED page

The LED page shows your active wheel, its live preview, the active profile and a brightness slider. One button matters: Edit →.

Fig 1. The LED home page.
  2. Create your wheel

Click + New wheel. The wizard asks for a form factor (LED bar, side pods, mini-dash, or free-form DIY), your LED count, optionally the car you're racing, and a starter preset filtered for that shape. Skip anything you're unsure about.

    Fig 2. The new-wheel wizard.
  3. Pick a preset

Presets are curated stacks — Rev strip, Race, Pod alerts, Endurance, Hotlap delta… One click applies the whole stack; everything stays editable afterwards.

  4. Try it without a sim

Open Test mode and drag the RPM slider, toggle flags, trigger the spotter. Your hardware (or the virtual preview) reacts instantly.

  5. Race

Launch iRacing or Assetto Corsa. The same profile now runs on live telemetry — and if you linked it to a car, it activates by itself.

Effects reference

Nine effect types. All of them share the same basics; the table gives the tour, the blocks below give every setting.

Common settings — every effect has a zone (which LEDs it may paint, dragged directly on the preview, with Left / Center / Right / All shortcuts), one or more colors, and for most a mode: Static or Blink with a frequency in Hz.

Shift lights

  • Fill direction: left→right, right→left, center→edges, or edges→center.
  • RPM source: Session (per-car thresholds straight from the sim) or Manual (your own first-LED / all-lit / limiter values — see calibration).
  • Colors, two ways: the classic low / mid / high thirds plus a limiter blink color — or RPM color bands: contiguous ranges of RPM, each with its own color, for a bar that reads like your real car's.

Flags

Up to four independent rules — yellow, blue, white, checkered — each with its own color and static/blink mode. Defaults: yellow blinks, blue and white are steady, checkered blinks.

Alert (TC / ABS / pit / DRS / P2P…)

One effect, one source, picked from a dropdown:

SourceLights when
TC activeTraction control is intervening
ABS activeABS is intervening
Pit limiterThe pit limiter is on
Personal bestYou just set your best lap (short celebratory flash)
Engine warningAny engine alarm — water/oil temperature, oil or fuel pressure
DRS availableYou may open DRS
DRS activeDRS is open
P2P activePush-to-pass is firing

Default zones adapt to the source — TC lands on the left pod, ABS on the right, the rest on the full bar. All editable.

Low fuel

Lights when fuel drops to or below a threshold in liters (default 10 L). Liters rather than percent because Assetto Corsa doesn't expose tank capacity.

Idle

The only effect that renders off track. Static, or Breathe — a slow sinusoidal fade (default 0.25 Hz) so the wheel feels alive in the menus.

Delta

One color when you're ahead of your best lap, another when behind, and a dead zone in seconds (default 0.05 s) where it stays dark — on pace means no noise. Transparent until a reference lap exists.

Pit window

Lights when the fuel you have covers fewer laps than what remains plus a safety margin in laps (default 2). Stays transparent while consumption or remaining laps are still unknown.

Proximity (spotter)

A car on your left lights the left half of the zone; on your right, the right half; boxed in, both. Two cars on the same side escalate the blink to twice the frequency.

Race start

Three phase colors — ready / set / go — driven by the start-light sequence (iRacing). Transparent outside the start.

04

Profiles & cars

  • Layer cards. Each effect is a card: layer number, type badge, color swatches, zone label. Toggle it, duplicate it, drag it (or use ▲▼) to change priority, delete it.
  • Link a profile to a car. One click ties the current profile to the car you're driving. With auto-switch enabled, jumping into that car activates its profile on its own — with a quiet notification, never while you're mid-edit.
  • Import / export. Profiles are single JSON files — export one, share it, import someone else's.
  • Save vs live. Edits reach the hardware instantly; Save writes to disk, Discard returns to the saved state.
05

Test mode

A built-in telemetry simulator, so you can exercise every effect with no sim running: Engine (RPM slider), Flags, Aids (TC, ABS, pit limiter, DRS, P2P, engine warning), Fuel, Delta, Proximity, Track state. It drives the preview and the hardware alike, and switches off when you leave the page.

Shift calibration

When the sim's per-car thresholds don't match how you drive, calibrate manually — no numbers to guess:

  1. First LED

Hold the engine at the regime where the bar should start filling, hit Capture — the live RPM is frozen into the setting.

  2. All lit

Same at the regime where the bar should be full.

  3. Limiter

Same at the blink point. Done — the shift effect switches to your manual thresholds.

Limits & roadmap

  • Device list is short — on purpose, for now. The protocol is universal; devices are enabled one by one as their USB IDs are confirmed. Ascher Artura Ultimate support is on the list.
  • Per-LED RPM mapping (fully non-linear rev bars) isn't shipped yet — today calibration is thresholds only.
  • 2D grids are early. Multi-row wheels render column by column; vertical fills and spatial delta bars are planned for a later tier.
  • Fuel is in liters, not percent (Assetto Corsa doesn't expose tank capacity).
Something missing, or a device you want supported? Ask on Discord — profiles are portable, so nothing you build today gets lost.
